Ria Ramkissoon, 22, pleaded guilty Monday to one count of child abuse resulting in death in exchange for testimony against four co-defendants, The Baltimore Sun reported.

The plea agreement includes a "process of deprogramming" for Ramkissoon and a promise the charge against her will be dropped if her 2-year-old son, Javon Thompson, is resurrected, said prosecutors in Baltimore.

Ramkissoon insisted on the resurrection clause because she and her co-defendants -- members of a group called 1 Mind Ministries -- say they believe in the physical resurrection of the dead. The resurrection agreed to in the plea must be a "Jesus-like resurrection," as distinguished from reincarnation as an animal or object, the Sun reported.

Ramkissoon's lawyers allege she was brainwashed by her co-defendants into starving the boy to exorcise a demon. Ramkissoon was sentenced to a 20-year prison sentence with all but time served suspended followed by a five-year probation. More photos here. (c) UPI
