Sean Penn Laps Up Honour For Milk Role
by Staff

Sean Penn will be honoured at an upcoming California film festival for his portrayal as San Francisco's first openly gay elected official in new film Milk.

The actor will receive the Desert Palm Achievement Award at the 20th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival next month (6Jan09), reports Daily Variety.

The honour follows high praise for his performance of assassinated homosexual politician Harvey Milk.

Penn was recognised last year (07) at the festival for directing Into the Wild and is the first to be honoured at the event in two consecutive years.

Past recipients of the award include Daniel Day-Lewis and John Travolta. (c) WENN
