Yoko Ono's Art Career Hailed At Venice Exhibition
by Staff

John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono will be honoured for her contributions to the art world at this year's (09) prestigious Venice Biennale event in Italy.

Ono, 76, will be presented with a Golden Lion alongside fellow honoree John Baldessari at the contemporary art exhibition, which runs from 7 June to 22 November (09).

The show's curator, Daniel Birnbaum, says the pair's "ground-breaking activities have opened new poetic, conceptual and social possibilities for artists around the globe."

He adds, "Their work has revolutionised the language of art and will remain a source of inspiration for generations to come."

Ono and Baldessari will be bestowed with the accolades at the event's inauguration on 6 June (09). (c) WENN
