The God Particle: Battling For Discovery
by Jack Ryan

The race to find evidence to find the 'God Particle' has begun and several Laboratories are in the heat of battle to discover it first. Two of the main ones are Fermi National Accelator Labs Tevatron accelerator and Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland.

According to the AP, "After all, the race is the one to find evidence of a hypothetical particle called the Higgs boson, better known as the "God Particle" because it is believed to give mass to matter that makes up the universe. Just months ago, it appeared evidence of the Higgs would be found by scientists at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) manning the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) -- not those at Fermilab.

Both groups look to have atom smashers and Large Hadron Collider has the biggest one in the world. Recently though, the LHC had to shut down because of a faulty wiring splice according to reports. Leaving an opening for the scientists at Fermilab a great opportunity to pull ahead and discover it with their Tevatron. The Fermilab Tevatron is full operational and working well according to reports. The scientists look to hope break the evidence of the God Particle by 2010 or 2011. (c) tPC
