Helio Castroneves, tax evasion? Prosecutors have rested their case against the two-time Indy 500 winner and Dancing With The Stars champion, Helio Castroneves in a Miami federal court.
The prosecution's case against Helio Castroneves lasted almost four weeks and included testimony, witnesses and documents indicating Helio Castroneves transfered money to off shore accounts to avoid paying U.S. income taxes of 5.5 million dollars.
Castroneves defendants include his 35-year-old sister and business manager Katiucia and Michigan lawyer Alan Miller. If convicted of tax evasion and conspiracy, all three face more than six years in prison.
The defense will now present its case. The new Indy Racing League season begins April 5.
