Craig Coakley, 30, was charged with interference with a professional sporting event after he jumped onto the field Tuesday during the game against the Atlanta Braves while wearing nothing but his sneakers and slid into second base, the New York Post reported Thursday.
Coakley said after the stunt his boss, Tri-County Plumbing and Heating owner John Musella, offered him an extra week's pay to streak during the game -- a claim Musella denies.
"It was not a bet or a dare," Musella said. "I told him, 'You're crazy. You're going to get arrested.'"
Coakley was ordered to stay away from Citi Field. If convicted, he faces up to a year in jail and a $5,000 fine.
Musella said the incident will not affect Coakley's employment.
"He's still welcome here as long as he keeps his clothes on," the plumber cracked. "He's a pretty stable guy -- for the most part." (c) UPI
